Koffee With Karan 7's latest episode with powerhouse performers Akshay Kumar and Samantha Ruth Prabhu featured them at their candid best. From discussing their personal milestones to professional choices, Akshay and Samantha did not disappoint as they took on Karan Johar's fiery questions. Samantha, who made her Koffee debut with the episode, charmed her way into our hearts with her candour and charisma. This meant that she also took on questions about her recent divorce with Tollywood actor Naga Chaitanya. In this regard when asked about the worst rumour she has read about herself, Samantha lost no time to say, “That I took Rs 250 crore in alimony.”
“Every morning I woke up waiting for income tax officials to show them there's nothing. First they made up the story about alimony. Then they realised it doesn't seem like a believable story, " Samantha shared. "Then they said there's a pre-nup, so she can't ask for alimony."
While on the subject of her divorce, Karan Johar asked Samantha if things were amicable between her ex-husband and her. To this, Samantha said, “Are there hard feelings like if you put us both in a room, you have to hide sharp objects? Yeah, as of now, yes,"
Speaking about the experience, Samantha admitted, “It has been hard. But it's good now. It's fine. I am stronger than I have ever been."
Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya announced their separation in October last year, after four years of marriage.
The couple announced the separation on their respective social media handles with a joint statement. Requesting fans to give them privacy, the couple wrote, “To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought (we) have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths. We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us. We request our fans, well-wishers and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support.”
On the work front, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has a host of projects lined up including Yashoda and Shakuntala. She will also collaborate with Downton Abbey director Philip John in Arrangements Of Love.
Naga Chaitanya, on the other hand, will be seen in Thank You and Laal Singh Chaddha.
