New Delhi:
The first stills of Kung Fu Panda 3 released by Dreamworks Animation introduce us to a whole bunch of new panda characters including Mei Mei, a ribbon-dancer panda who is betrothed to Po, the kung fu fighting hero of the series.
This is Mei Mei, dressed in a colourful outfit, who is believed to have been promised to Po in an arranged match. Actress Rebel Wilson, who voices Mei Mei, also Instagrammed this pic and captioned it: "And introducing me as the panda Mei Mei in Kung Fu Panda 3"
The third film follows Po as he returns to his birthplace - a village of pandas - where he struggles to be accepted and then has to train his fellow pandas as fighters to defeat an evil spirit named Kai.
Here's Po with the pandas of his village.
The movie will also reunite Po with his biological father, voiced by Bryan Cranston. In the preceding film, Po was horrified to discover that Mr Ping, who raised him, was not his real dad - the fact that Mr Ping was a goose and not a panda seemed to have entirely escaped him, although the biology of the situation was not lost on Po's kung fu comrades, the Furious Five.
In Kung Fu Panda 3, actors Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, Jackie Chan, David Cross and Dustin Hoffman will return to play the roles of Po, Tigress, Viper, Mantis, Monkey, Crane and Master Shifu.
The Jennifer Yuh Nelson-directed film is slated to release in 2016.
