Los Angeles:
Lady Gaga has sparked controversy with her new single 'Born this way' with fans and critics accusing that the track is similar to Madonna's 1989 hit 'Express yourself'.
Though the long awaited song reached number one on the iTunes charts soon after its debut, it got mixed reviews from the critics amid accusations of a rip-off.
The 24-year-old singer uploaded the song on her Twitter.com yesterday and immediately faced a barrage of comments from her fans.
"Lady Gaga's song's good, but my God it sounds exactly like Madonna's Express Yourself," one fan wrote.
"It doesn't just sound like Madonna's Express Yourself. You can literally sing the original over this one," wrote another follower.
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, who is a huge fan of the 'Poker Face' hitmaker also noticed the similarities between the two songs, tweeting: "Express Yourself 2.0 is what people are saying? I'll happily take that!!!"
DJ Riddler Houston's Hot 95.7 and Sirius/XM's BPM said "The melody had similarities to Madonna's 'Vogue.' Then as I continued listening, the chorus sounded like 'Express Yourself.'
Finally, the end with the choir chant reminded me of 'Like a Prayer'."
Chris Daughtry tweeted, "Just listened to a clip of Lady Gaga 'Born This Way' and I gotta say ... sounds a lot like 'Express Yourself' from Madonna. Thoughts? OK. Good. A lotta peeps are saying the same thing so maybe I won't get raked over the coals"
Comedian Gabe Liebman has the same opinion as well. He said it "sounds exactly like a Madonna song," yet he found it to be "more fun, less annoying".
The comparisons have come as a big blow to Gaga, who goes out of her ways to maintain her orginality.
