London: Lady Gaga is launching her own social networking site.
The Born This Way singer is a committed user of twitter and has close to 25 million followers on the website but she has now decided to create her own internet portal for her fans.
The Little Monsters social network - which takes its name from Gaga's nickname for her fans - will be for the pop superstar's fans to use to communicate with each other and share photos, videos and content with one another. According to Mashable.com, the Little Monsters site is currently only at the BETA testing stage and has elements similar to the Pinterest mobile phone app - which allows users to drop pins on locations and things they like - and Reddit.com which encourages users to rate content they like.
The website is the first project being launched by Backplane - a tech start-up company which is party founded by Gaga and her manager Troy Carter.
Backplane CEO Matt Michelsen said: "Backplane is about bringing together communities and Gaga's community just so happens to be the community we're using to learn about proper functionality. We think we can really change the world."
The Little Monsters site is due to go live later this year.
Meanwhile, Gaga - who also has 47 million fans on Facebook - made a cameo appearance in The Simpsons at the weekend.
In the episode, the 26-year-old singer visits Lisa Simpson at her home after Homer takes his daughter to her concert and she realises the schoolgirl is unhappy.
The animated Gaga also performed a new song especially for her 'Little Monsters', entitled Lisa Simpson Superstar.
