Panaji:
Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, who has three of his films at the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2010, could not attend the premiere of his upcoming film 'Nauka Dubi' after injuring his leg in an accident.
The film starring Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jishu Sengupta, Raima Sen and Riya Sen, was the opening film of Indian Premiere section of IFFI last night.
An adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's controversial novel on accidental wife swapping, will release in January next year, said producer Subhash Ghai, who attended the premiere with actress Riya Sen.
"Rituparno was very excited about the premiere but unfortunately he had a leg injury and the doctors have advised
him not to travel. He would have loved to be here and he has
apologized for the not being around," Ghai told reporters here.
'Nauka Dubi' is not the only film of the director at IFFI. His national-award-winning film 'Abhomaan' will be screened in the Indian Panorama section while he is in the race for Best Actor award in the International competition with 'Just Another Love Story'. Ghosh plays a cross-dressing actor in the movie.
