Liam Neeson's 'Hangover' Cameo Edited Out

Liam Neeson's 'Hangover' Cameo Edited Out
Los Angeles: Liam Neeson's cameo as a tattoo artist is no longer the part of 'Hangover II'. Neeson has been replaced by Nick Cassavetes in the role, which was originally written for Mel Gibson.

Director Todd Phillips said that the Thailand-set sequel "follows a similar structure to the first 'Hangover,' in that it is a mystery/investigation comedy" with interlocking scenes.

While editing, Phillips chose to cut the scene that immediately followed Neeson's cameo, meaning it was no longer relevent to the following scene.

Three weeks ago, Phillips decided to reshoot the scene, but with Neeson in London shooting WB's 'Clash of the Titans' sequel, the actor was no longer available, the Variety reported.

Since the film is releasing on May 26, Phillips says he did not have the time to wait and decided to go ahead with actor Cassavetes for the scene.

"We were in a complete time crunch so I called up Nick and asked if he would do the part," Phillips wrote. "He came in and crushed it and that is the scene that you will ultimately see in the film. (I'm excited for everyone) to see the film. It turned out great."

Gibson was originally intended for the part of a tattoo artist but the studio had to drop the actor amid objections from the cast and crew of the film in the aftermath of Gibson's legal troubles.
