Lindsay Lohan is officially washing her hands off her estranged father Michael by dropping her last name. The Mean Girl star's mother Dina has confirmed the news.
"Lindsay is dropping the Lohan and just going by Lindsay. Plus, me and (younger daughter) Ali will be officially changing our last names back to my maiden name, Sullivan, " Dina, 48, told PopEater.
"So many of the greatest people in showbiz are known by just their first name. Look at Oprah and Beyonce. Now you can add Lindsay to that list... And it's a way for them all to start over. No one in the family want anything to do with Lindsay's father (Michael Lohan) anymore and that includes sharing a last name," a source close to the actress said.
But it's unclear when the star, 24, will be able to see her new name up on a movie or TV screen. On April 22, a judge will decide whether to proceed with a trial for the troubled star, who is accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from store. If convicted, Lohan faces up to 3 years in prison and additional jail time if a judge determines she has violated terms of her probation stemming from her 2007 DUI case.
