New Delhi: Lindsay Lohan's publicist has quit.

While Steve Honig - who began working with the troubled star in May 2011 - refused to reveal why he resigned, it comes after a damaging few months for the actress which have seen her questioned over a car accident, accuse her mother of taking cocaine and foil an intervention attempt by her father.

He told the New York Daily News on Thursday (25.10.12): "It was last night. I really feel very firmly that it's private and I don't want to say anything."Mr Honig was the first publicist to work with Lindsay after she parted ways with her previous spokesperson, Leslie Sloane, in 2010.

It was recently revealed that Lindsay father is seeking a conservatorship for her. Michael Lohan is convinced his daughter has resumed abusing drink and drugs and after trying to stage an intervention last Friday (19.10.12) he is trying to go through the courts to get a conservator appointed to look after her. Michael claims his daughter is hanging out with the wrong people, including her mother, Dina.

He is not requesting he be made conservator - an appointed person who has legal control over the subject - as he doesn't want to be in control of Lindsay's finances, so people can accuse him of going after her money. Michael has told his lawyer the first thing he plans once there is a conservatorship in place is to convince them to send Lindsay to rehab.

He claims every time Lindsay has been to rehab "she went in dirty and didn't come out clean".He also blames the people around Lindsay for helping to fuel her addictions.
