Madhur Bhandarkar said he appreciates the work of Bengali filmmakers

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar says heis keen to study Bengali literature in his upcoming films.
The Chandni Bar director appreciated the work ofBengali filmmakers, especially Ritwik Ghatak whose movies haveinspired him a lot.
"I am a great admirer of Bengali sensibilities indifferent forms of art. So, it remains a possibility to makefilms on Bengali literary works," he said.
Bhandarkar, in town to attend a FICCI Ladies Organisationmeet, though ruled out that possibility for his next two filmswhose subjects have been decided already.
"I have heard a lot about the present film on Ritwik'slife. I wish to catch up with the new Meghe Dhaka Tarawhenever possible, here or in Mumbai," he said.
The director, who has made films like Page 3, TrafficSignal and Fashion, said he wants to stick to the kind ofcinema he is familiar with.
"I want to stick to the type of cinema I am familiarwith, hard-hitting which shows behind-the-scene facts. Thisis my forte."
Talking about how life has changed after directingcritically acclaimed movie Chandni Bar, he said, "I visitedover 60 bars for research into the subject and finally gothold of such voluminous inputs that many of them could not bereferred or incorporated in Chandni Bar."
"After Page 3, many told me they had stoppedattending Page 3 parties after watching the film. AfterCorporate you may remember how a campaign started anddespite criticism from some quarters I stand by what I did.
Shouldn't we project the brutal truths in our films?," headded.
