New Delhi:
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar's stalled project, Heroine, is back on track today with Kareena Kapoor as its new lead actress.
"Heroine is back on track, pre-production starts from today, need your blessings & prayers!!!," the director posted on Twitter.
Earlier, the project was shelved when the film's then lead actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's pregnancy came to light.
Madhur was in shock when after the film's grand announcement at the 64th Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya's pregnancy was revealed by father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, on Twitter. The director later claimed that he was kept in dark about the pregnancy.
The film was shelved as the filmmakers felt that certain scenes were inappropriate for Aishwarya during pregnancy. This even lead to a fresh controversy over the inclusion of a no-pregnancy clause in the contract of actresses.
Aishwarya has returned the signing amount and has barred the producers from using any material from the scenes that she shot for the film.
