New Delhi:
It's been a while since we saw her on screens, the actress with a 1,000 watt smile, Madhuri Dixit, is all set for her debut in Marathi Cinema. The yet-untitled film, is said to be a slice of life story which revolves around the self-realisation journey of a women (played by Madhuri) but will come sprinkled with a dash of humour attached to its narrative. "It is a story of every household yet, it has a silver lining. It not only gives you hope and inspiration but also encourages you to live life in the true sense. The most fascinating factor for me to choose it is that it is going to carve a niche in everyone's heart," Madhuri Dixit, 50, told NDTV.
Despite having appeared in more than 75 films so far, this would be Madhuri's first-ever Marathi project as an actor. Though keen to work in Marathi films, Madhuri admits she was waiting for the right script to come along.
"Marathi cinema is evolving so beautifully and seeing such incredible stories being told makes me beam with pride. I have received a number of scripts over the years, since doing a Marathi film was always something I was open to. But the scripts didn't excite me as this one did. When I read this script, it stood out and with the amazing team behind it, I knew that this is what I wanted to be a part of," says Madhuri.
The untitled film is in the pre-production stage and is all set to go on floors by the end of this year.
Gulab Gang, which released in 2014, was Madhuri Dixit's last Hindi film. She has also co-judged dance reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and So You Think You Can Dance (India).
