Los Angeles : After receiving mixed responses to her revealing Met Gala outfit, Madonna hit back at critics, saying her fashion choice was to make a statement in support of gender equality.

Madonna, who turned heads at the held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit in New York on Monday with her racy outfit, shared a post on Instagram, seemingly hitting back at critics.

Madonna hitmaker wore a custom Riccardo Tisci-designed black Givenchy gown which she teamed with a pair of latex knee-length boots and a silver headpiece for the event. Madonna covered her arms and thighs in black tape, which is commonly used for sports injuries.
