On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, Bollywood celebrities sent out their good wishes to their fans and well-wishers on social media. Stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Priyanka Chopra, Anuskha Sharma, Madhuri Dixit posted on Twitter and Instagram paying their tribute to Lord Shiva. Baahubali director SS Rajamouli also unveiled a new poster of his upcoming film Baahubali:The Conclusion on Twitter on this special occasion. In the poster, Prabhas is seen climbing an elephant's head. Maha Shivratri is one of the biggest festivals of Hindus and is being celebrated across the country in honour of Lord Shiva, with devotees visiting temples to appease Lord Shiva with abundant offerings and observing day long fast.

Sonam Kapoor also a picture of Lord Shiva on Instagram, captioned: "Lord Shiva is the protector and regenerator of universe and all life. On Mahashivratri I'd like to celebrate goddess Parvati, lord Shiva's 'shakti' she is the recreative energy and power of Shiva, and she is the cause of a bond that connects all beings and a means of their spiritual release."
Maha Shivratri marks remembrance of overcoming darkness and ignorance in life. It is also significant because this is the day that Lord Shiv and Goddess Parvati got married.
