Maharashtra government has approachedBollywood couple Kajol and Ajay Devgn to become the brandambassadors for its 'Save the Ggirl-child' campaign.
Another celebrity couple, actors Sachin Pilgaonkar andSupriya, have already agreed to be a part of it.
"We are awaiting written confirmation from Ajay and Kajolabout the participation," health department officials said.
Sachin and Supriya are parents of a single girl-child,while Ajay and Kajol's eldest child is a girl.
Sources said that government was looking for celebritycouples who have a connect in both urban as well as ruralareas.
Sachin-Supriya enjoy fame across the state owing to theirsuccessful career in Marathi films, while Kajol, a Bollywoodactor, too has Maharashtrian roots; as her mother, actressTanuja is from the state.
Government recently launched a crack-down on pre-natalsex-test centres across the state.
