In his post, Vicky wrote, "Dinesh Vijan brings to life the story of the eternal warrior of dharma! Vicky Kaushal stars as Chiranjeevi Parashurama in #Mahavatar, directed by Amar Kaushik. Coming to cinemas - Christmas 2026!"

ICYDK, Parashurama, also known as Parashuram Avatar, was the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. In this incarnation, Vishnu took the form of a human to rid the Earth of the tyrant Chakravarti Samrat Karthaveerya Arjuna, whose ego and arrogance had corrupted him. Parashurama's mission was to restore dharma and his story is one of immense devotion, strength and resilience.

Parashurama was Chiranjeevi, meaning immortal. He was born as Ramabhadra in the Bhargava clan, headed by Bhrigu, one of the mind-born sons of Lord Brahma. His name, Parashurama, was earned after he acquired the mighty Parashu (axe) from Lord Shiva, which became his iconic weapon. With this weapon, he led the Devas to victory in a crucial war against the Asuras.

In addition to his role in the battle against the Asuras, Parashurama played a pivotal role in the Mahabharata. He is remembered as a teacher of warriors, instructing Bheeshma, Dronacharya and Karna in the art of warfare and weaponry. Parashurama also fought against Bheeshma to fulfill Amba's vow of revenge, though he was ultimately unsuccessful.

On the work front, Vicky Kaushal was last seen in Bad Newz alongside Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk. He will next be seen in Love & War, co-starring celeb couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
