Southern superstar Mahesh Babu's much awaited Telugu action film Aagadu has collected Rs 18.02 crore worldwide within two days of its release. Experts say this is "the best opening" he has ever got in his career.
Interestingly, the film opened to mixed reviews from the critics, but has still managed to impress the masses.
"Mahesh's Aagadu has registered his career's best opening. It managed to rake in Rs 18.02 crore at the box-office worldwide in two days and is going strong. It's definitely going to set new records for the industry," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.
Directed by Srinu Vaitla, Aagadu released on Friday. It also features Tamannah Bhatia, Sonu Sood, Brahmanandam and Rajendra Prasad in important roles.
Trinath said Aagadu was expected to collect more, but "due to rains in Andhra Pradesh, the numbers dropped on the second day. In some key areas, rain played a spoilsport, which resulted in drop in the overall box-office collection."
But it has not affected the overall performance of the movie.
"The film is doing exceptionally well in all other places. Outside Andhra Pradesh, Aagadu has registered new records at the box-office. It touched the Rs.1 million mark from the premiere shows in the USA on Thursday," he said.
