Mahesh Babu will campaign for promoting gender equality in society

South actor Mahesh Babu will nowvoice his support for filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar's campaignMARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination). (Read: Farhan Akhtar campaigns for women's safety)
Farhan Akhtar launched the campaign MARD, after thedeath of the gang rape victim in Delhi. The actor has now been joined by Mahesh Babu, aTollywood star, who is all set to recite the poem MARD, andcollaborate with Farhan in the cause. MARD-Men Against Rape and Discrimination, is a poemwritten by Farhan's father and lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Mahesh will narrate the poem in Telugu for Farhan'sventure, designed to create awareness among men to respectwomen and promote gender equality.
"This poem which has already been translated inMarathi, Urdu and Bengali will now be translated in Telugu.Mahesh Babu has agreed to record the poem. As Farhan wanted toreach out to people in the South too, he felt no one elsecould make more of an impact than Mahesh Babu," Farhan'sspokesperson said in a statement here.
The recording will be done tomorrow in Hyderabad.Farhan, who has taken a pledge to spread awarenessabout gender inequality and has launched a drive to condemncrimes against women through various mediums and languages,now wants to reach out to as many people as possible.
