"He holds Mahatma Gandhi in high respect and followshis ideologies. So he wanted to also come to Rajghat (Gandhismemorial) and pay his tributes," a spokesperson of Zaidi toldGulf News.

Al Zaidi's book, released in December last year, is ajournal chronicling the moments leading up to the infamouspress conference at which he hurled his shoe at Bush, callinghim a dog.

He was arrested and convicted of assault, spent ninemonths in prison during which, he alleges, he was beaten andelectrocuted for three days.
