Thiruvananthapuram:
Malayalam comic actor Jagathy Sreekumar, who was seriously injured in a road accident in March this year, is on the road to recovery, say doctors.
Kerala government chief whip P.C. George, whose son is married to Jagathy's daughter, told IANS Saturday: "Doctors have told me that the actor is recovering. He is responding to the various treatment protocols and is expected to start speaking in three weeks."
Jagathy was injured in the early hours of March 10 near the Kozhikode University campus when his Innova car hit a divider. The driver of the car escaped with minor injuries.
The actor, who has acted in more than 1,000 Malayalam films, was on his way from Thrissur to Coorg in Karnataka for director Lenin Rajendran's latest film.
On April 12, Jagathy was airlifted from Kozhikode to the Vellore Christian Medical College in Tamil Nadu, where he underwent four major surgeries.
"He is subjected to various therapies everyday. Overall he has made a good recovery and we expect he will start to speak again by New Year," said his son-in-law Shaun George.
