Malayalam film star Mammooty is amongsix persons chosen for the Virgin Earth Golden FeatherEnvironment Awards 2011 and Green Golden Feather EnvironmentPuraskar award for their work in the field of environmentalprotection.
The awards have been instituted by Team Solar, one of theworld's largest renewable energy groups.
The names of winners were announced by K Liju, RegionalManager of Team Solar.
Besides Mammotty, other awardees for the 'Virgin EarthGolden Feather Environment Awards are Kochi Corporation MayorTony Chammany and CEO of Vallarpadam Transhipment Terminal-DPworld K K Krishnadas, he said.
Prof Dr S Sitaraman, renowned environmental activist andsecretary of Association of Environmental Protection, FrJohnson J Palakkappillil, Principal, Sacred Heart College andDr Georgekutty Karianappalli, CEO, Lifeway solar have beenselected for the Green Golden Feather Environment Puraskar,he added.
