Filmmaker Raj Kaushal's last rites were held at the Dadar Shivaji Park crematorium in Mumbai on Wednesday morning. His wife Mandira Bedi and a handful of close friends from the television industry attended the funeral. Raj Kaushal died on Wednesday morning; details of his death are awaited. He was 49. Among those who attended Mr Kaushal's funeral included actors Ronit Roy, who was photographed hugging Ms Bedi, and Samir Soni. Ashish Chaudhary, was also present at the funeral and he was also pictured in a group photo shared by Neha Dhupia after Mr Kaushal's death. Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal are believed to have spent time last weekend with a group of friends which included cricketer Zaheer Khan and wife Sagarika Ghatge in addition to Ashish Chaudhary, Neha Dhupia and her husband Angad Bedi.

Ronit Roy, who co-starred with Mandira Bedi for about a year in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, was seen consoling her.

Director Onir announced the news of Raj Kaushal's death on Twitter this morning. The late film producer had backed the 2005 film, My Bother... Nikhil, which was directed by Onir. "Gone too soon. We lost film maker and producer Raj Kaushal this morning. Very sad. He was one of the producers of my first film My Brother Nikhil. One of those few who believed in our vision and supported us. Prayers for his soul," Onir tweeted. Members of the film and television industry, paid tributes to the late filmmaker on social media.

Mandira Bedi married Raj Kaushal in the year 1999. Their son Vir, now 10, was born in 2011. Mandira and Raj Kaushal, who previously revealed they wanted to adopt a daughter, welcomed Tara into the family in July last year. She is 4.
Raj Kaushal, who was also a writer and a director, had backed several films, including Onir's 2005 movie My Brother... Nikhil. He had also directed films such as Pyaar Mein Kabhie Kabhie, Shaadi Ka Ladoo and Anthony Kaun Hai. He started his career as a copywriter. Raj Kaushal also started his own advertising production company in 1998 and went on to direct over 800 commercials.
