Ballia: A local court here imposed a fine on the makers of Aamir Khan starrer Mangal Pandey: The Rising for not turning up in a case pertaining to removal of some objectionable content from the film.
Civil judge (junior division) Azad Singh imposed the fine of Rs 150 each on director Ketan Mehta, producer Bobby Bedi and two representatives of the Censor Board for not appearing in court, prosecution sources said.
Aamir has been left out of this action, sources said, adding that barring the actor, the remaining have appeared through their counsels in the case.
Based on the life of sepoy Mangal Pandey, who sparked the 1857 uprising and is a native of Ballia, the 2005 release has been criticised of distorting historical facts.
July 2 has been fixed as the next date of hearing in the case.
