The first trailer of filmmaker Ketan Mehta's Manjhi- The Mountain Man, which was released online on July 13, features Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular role of Manjhi and Radhika Apte as his wife.
The film is based on the true story of Dasrath Manjhi, the labourer who single-handedly carved a path through a mountain using only a hammer and chisel in memory of his wife.
The first half of the trailer shows Nawazuddin and Radhika as a free-spirited happy-go-lucky couple and captures their love for one another. The second part focuses on Manjhi's transition to the gritty and serious 'Mountain Man' whose life takes a serious turn after he loses his wife. His sole mission is to build a road through a mountain for the benefit of the locals.
Manjhi- The Mountain Man will hit theatres in August.
