Actress Kalki Koechlin's Margarita, With a Straw, which narrates the struggle of a girl with cerebral palsy, has bagged the Best Feature Film award at Washington, DC's international film festival - Filmfest DC.
Kalki shared the news with her fans on Twitter:
The 29th annual Washington, DC international film festival appreciates young filmmakers for weaving together the complexities of relationships into a story with an engrossing and unique storytelling technique. The international film gala was held from April 16-26.
Directed by Shonali Bose, the film, which has garnered plaudits from all quarters, also explores other sensitive issues. It released in India on April 17.
The official page of the film festival said that Margarita, With a Straw, "explores and challenges Indian culture and society in so many ways that have rarely been done on screen".
