Gibson has faced intense media scrutiny after his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, alleged that the 54-year-old actor punched her twice in the face, breaking her teeth while she was holding their one-year-old daughter Lucia.He was dropped by his agent in July after stories of the incident and threatening voice mail messages he left for Grigorieva made the news.

The release date of Gibson's next film, The Beaver -in which he plays a depressed toy company CEO who begins speaking to the world through a hand puppet of a beaver - is
in limbo due to the controversies surrounding Gibson.
