Meryl Streep, who won the bestactress Golden Globe for her performance in The Iron Lady,says she never became a director because she wanted to have apeaceful family life.
The 62-year-old actress, who has four children withhusband Don Gummer, said she has been tempted to work behindthe camera but decided it was too big a commitment and wouldmean missing out on a home life, Daily Mirror.
"It's like being a grandmother: you go home at the end ofthe night. I used to think I'd like to direct but you knowwhat? Honestly, if you have a big commitment at home you can'treally do it. I have four children.
"While they were growing up it was really impossible.Directing is a big, big, big job. Acting, if you prepare, youcan leave it on set and come back the next day. You can't dothat with directing, it's like a 24-hour job," Streep said.
