Actress Meryl Streep will portray legendary opera singer Maria Callas in a film adaptation of the play Master Class for HBO, reported Contactmusic.com. (Also Read: I thought I was too ugly to be an actress: Meryl Streep)
The Tony Award-winning play was written by Terrence McNally and opened on Broadway in 1995.
In the original play, Maria Callas reminisces about her life while teaching a class at the famous Juilliard School of Performing Arts in New York.
The Graduate director Mike Nichols will helm the project and filming will begin in January next year.
