Met Gala 2022: Natasha Poonawalla Shares Pics From A "Memorable Night"

Entrepreneur Natasha Poonawalla was the only Indian at this year's Met Gala. Keeping up with this year's theme, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, or Gilded Glamour, she appeared on the red carpet in a golden Sabyasachi saree with statement jewellery. Now, as the event has wrapped up, Natasha shared several stunning before and after pictures of herself from the event. In the pictures, Natasha looks gorgeous in a blingy dress. Sharing the post, she wrote, "Before, after and some precious moments in-between! All the makings of a memorable night, thank you".

For the uninitiated, Natasha Poonawalla is an executive director of Serum Institute of India, which is the world's largest manufacturer of vaccines. Sharing Natasha's Met Gala look, Sabyasachi wrote, "For me, the sari is a truly unique and versatile garment that owns its identity even as it transcends boundaries and geographies. Back when I was a young fashion student, I often wondered when I would see the sari at big global fashion events like the Met Gala." - Sabyasachi Mukherjee" 

He added, "For the 2022 Met Gala, themed 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion', Natasha Poonawalla's vision was to interpret the dress code 'gilded glamour' with an Indian gaze that revels in its multi-culturalism and authenticity. She wears a Schiaparelli hand-forged metal bustier paired with a custom Sabyasachi couture sari and trail." 

He concluded the post by explaining the materials used to create the design. He wrote, "Sabyasachi contributed to Natasha's vision by celebrating Indian craftsmanship with a gold handcrafted printed tulle sari and trail embroidered with silk floss thread and embellished with bevel beads, semi-precious stones, crystals, sequins and appliquéd printed velvet. The jewellery is a curation of custom pieces from Sabyasachi Fine Jewellery and limited edition collectibles from Sabyasachi's Curiosity Art & Antiquity Project-crafted using traditional techniques with precious and semi-precious stones."

Soon after her Met Gala pictures went viral, her B-town friends Kareena Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Karisma Kapoor and Amrita Arora lauded her look. 

Talking about Met Gala 2022, this year, the event was hosted and co-chaired by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
