New Delhi:
A flurry of silver, lustrous and futuristic looks, the Met Museums annual gala - was, per usual, as full of the outrageous as one might expect. The night, again per usual, had a theme that most took very seriously: 'Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology' or what can happen, should happen and, in some cases, shouldn't happen when fashion meets technology. Like Katy Perry who's black Prada with clunky gold embellishments and long train gave unexpected insight into what happens when a Transformer hits the bar too early.
The evening's host, Taylor Swift, looked the part in a short silver sequined Louis Vuitton with sky-high black gladiator sandal. Cindy Crawford proved that she's ever the super model in classic long metallic silver Balmain, while Nicole Kidman really had it down in a black and silver sparkler that was part Interplanetary Overlord, part astrology lesson. Well played.
Madonna was none too shy either and, frankly, we wish she were. Just a little. She wore Givenchy that was simultaneously lacy, strappy, suited, booted and we are told an ode to therapeutic tape. Because that, of course, is the fashion of the future.

Kim Kardashian in a silver Balmain gown s described herself as a "blingy, sexy robot." We agree with exactly two thirds of that statement.
Then there were those who seemed to have missed the memo: Pop superstar, Beyonce, relatively tame in a peach-hued, puffed-sleeved latex gown by Givenchy, and a timely reminder that the future isn't just about metals, but alas plenty of plastic too! Blake Lively kept her baby bump under wraps in pale peach and seriously shimmery Burberry.
Zayn Malik on the other hand embraced the mood a little too seriously - with silver metal arms on his dark suit. If he was hoping to channel the Winter Soldier, or even a droid, we'd like to remind him they've both been cast already. Also seemingly channeling the Marvel-verse, Alicia Vikander's Louis Vuitton was very timely: one part Iron Man, two parts Thor. Cap would approve, the film hits screen this weekend.
