Singer Mika Singh has been arrested in New Delhi for allegedly assaulting a doctor at a concert in April. The 38-year-old singer has been released on bail from the Inderpuri police station in West Delhi.
"We were called for an investigtation. It is a bailable offence," Mika's lawyer Sanjay Bhatnagar told news agency ANI.
Mika is accused of having slapped Dr Shrikant, an ophthalmologist at Ambedkar Hospital. An FIR was filed against the singer in which the police registered a case of causing hurt and wrongful restraint. He was questioned by the police on Thursday and arrested after.
Mika has said that Dr Shrikant was drunk and had made a rude gesture at the singer after he was repeatedly asked not to stand near a group of women at the concert, organized by the Delhi Opthalmological Society in the capital two months ago.
Dr Shrikant has alleged that Mika insulted him and slapped him on the stage. Police allegedly intervened soon after.

Mika Singh, who celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, is the voice behind several Bollywood hits including Jumme Ki Raat from Kick and Subah Hone Na De from Desi Boyz. He has been travelling in the months that have passed since the FIR was filed, and recently attended the IIFA weekend in Malaysia.
