Several Catholics were angered after Miley Cyrus promoted her surprise album with a photoshopped picture of the Pope Francis holding a copy of it.
Miley, 22, took to the photo sharing site Instagram September 1 to post the picture and captioned it: "All the cool kidzzzz are listening to #mileycyrusandherdeadpetz. check it out."
Many found the use of the Pope's photo to promote her album Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz offensive.
"Enferma mental (mentally ill)," a fan commented in Spanish. Another said, "This is disrespectful." Another fan agreed, "Yeah not okay with this, love u but love Pope Francis more."

A joint effort with The Flaming Lips, the album boasts guest appearances from Big Sean, the former Disney star's dad Billy Ray Cyrus and her frequent collaborator Mike Will Made It.
