Miley Cyrus on raunchy act: Wanted to create history
Miley says she wanted people to talk about her performance for years to come
Los Angeles: Singer Miley Cyrus has justified her raunchy performance at the recently held MTV Video Music Award (VMA). The pop star says her intent was to do something which people would talk about - and she surely achieved it.

The 20-year-old was seen twerking with her tongue out and flirting with singer Robin Thicke on the stage of the awards night held in New York Aug 25. She says she wanted people to talk about the act not just for a few days, but for years to come, reports people.com.

"Me and Robin Thicke the whole time said, 'You know we're about to make history right now'," Cyrus said in a video clip. The Hannah Montana star also said she didn't spend a lot of time dwelling on the preparations.

"What's amazing is, I think, now, we're three days later and people are still talking about it. They're overthinking it. You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it, 'cause that's just me," she added.

She also dropped names of pop stars like Madonna and Britney Spears, who have shocked VMA viewers in the past."I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music," she said.

"Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. Every VMA performance ... that's what you're looking for, you're wanting to make history," Cyrus said.

Madonna and Britney had locked lips on the stage at the 2002 VMA.
