Miley also called out critics for double standards, asking why there was no backlash against collaborator Robin Thicke.
Los Angeles:
Miley Cyrus has slammedaccusations that her controversial MTV VMA performance wasracist because she used Afro-American dancers as props.
"I don't keep my producers or dancers around 'cause itmakes me look cool. Those aren't my 'accessories.' They're myhomies," Cyrus told Rolling Stone in an interview. The singer, who has popularised twerking, also disputedthe notion that she pretends to be black.
"I'm from one of the wealthiest counties in America. Iknow what I am. But I also know what I like to listen to. Lookat any 20-year-old white girl right now -- that's what they'relistening to at the club. It's 2013. The gays are gettingmarried, we're all collaborating. I would never think aboutthe color of my dancers, like, 'Ooh, that might becontroversial'," Cyrus said.
The singer, who appears topless on the magazine's cover, also hit back at critics for targeting her while completelyignoring collaborator Robin Thicke for their raunchy duet thatraised so many eyebrows.
"It was a lot of 'Miley twerks on Robin Thicke,' butnever, 'Robin Thicke grinds up on Miley.' They're only talkingabout the one that bent over. So obviously there's a doublestandard," she said.
