Sean Penn'sOscar-winning movie 'Milk' has been voted the best gay film ofthe last decade.
Penn won an Academy Award in 2008 for his role as gayactivist and politician Harvey Milk in the biopic, whichtopped the poll of the most important movies depicting gaypeople in the last 10 years.
Officials at charity Stonewall, who conducted thesurvey, commended director Gus Van Sant's drama for itsrealistic portrayal of the homosexual community, reportedDaily Star.
Milk's gay activist friend Cleve Jones, portrayed inthe movie by Emile Hirsch, said, "This is a fantasticachievement for Milk.
"As someone who was depicted in the film, I feel veryproud that gay people are saying it's the most significantfilm for them in the last decade - it shows that the campaignfor full gay equality has reached a whole new generation ofpeople, which gives me real hope."
Family drama 'The Kids Are All Right', starringJulianne Moore and Annette Bening as lesbian mothers, was insecond place, while cowboy movie 'Brokeback Mountain' camethird.
'A Single Man', starring Colin Firth as a gayuniversity professor, and 'The Hours' rounded out the topfive.
