MJ's father drops his wrongful death lawsuit against Dr Conrad Murray
Los Angeles: Michael Jackson's father has dropped his wrongful death lawsuit against Dr Conrad Murray.

Joe Jackson filed a request with a Los Angeles court asking for his 2010 suit against the doctor - who was convicted of the involuntary manslaughter of the King of Pop in November 2011 - to be dismissed without prejudice.

In the suit, Joe Jackson had alleged Murray withheld vital information from the doctors and emergency room staff who tried to save Michael's life on the day he died in June 2009.

Joe Jackson claimed Dr Conrad Murray wrongfully provided the powerful anaesthetic Propofol and a "polypharmacy" of other drugs to his son just before he died and alleged the doctor asked a security guard to clean the room in which Michael died of medication before police arrived at the Los Angeles mansion.

Charles Peckham and Valerie Wass, Murray's lawyers insisted to TMZ that their client didn't pay anything to the showbiz patriarch and admitted they don't know why Joe has suddenly asked for the case to be dismissed.

Charles Peckham said: "Cooler heads have prevailed."

The original suit also sought action against tour promoters AEG - who were running the 50-date London residency Michael was rehearsing for before his death - but those claims were dismissed from court in February because the Thriller star's mother Katherine had made similar claims in her own wrongful death suit.

Joe is still a nominal party in Katherine's suit, which accuses AEG of breaching its agreement to provide physical care for Michael during his tour and argues they were negligent in hiring Murray.
