A still from the movie
New Delhi:
Nagarjuna's latest film Damarukam breaks his streak of average films and proves exactly why he's a superstar.
The movie revolves around Mallikarjuna (portrayed by Nagarjuna) who takes birth with the blessings of Lord Shiva (Prakash Raj) and falls in love with Maheshwari (played by Anushka). A demon named Andhakasura (Ravi Shankar) has his eyes on Maheshwari and forces her to marry him. The rest of the plot is about how Mallikarjuna saves Maheshwari from the evil Andhakasura.
Nagarjuna's performance is breathtaking helped somewhat by six-pack abs. He modifies his dialogue delivery and his body language to suit his character and performs action scenes and songs with ease.
But it is Ravishankar as the evil Andhakasura who steals the show. Prakash Raj as Lord Shiva also proves his versatility as an actor.
Anushka adds to the glamour factor.
Director Srinivas Reddy has presented a fantastic socio-fantasy film with the help of computer graphics. The movie is initially slow but gathers momentum by the end of the first half and the real fun only began in the second half. Devisri Prasad's soundtrack is an added advantage.
Overall, the movie is a brilliant visual experience and well-narrated. A must watch for all.
