New Delhi:
Sekhar Kammula's Life Is Beautiful is a one-time watch which fails to impress much.
The entire plot revolves around the life of characters Srinu (played by Abhijit), Satya (played by Rashmi) and Chinni who are sent by their mother (Amala) to stay in a middle-class neighbourhood with their grandparents. They make friends with Abhi (played by Kaushik) and Nagaraju (played by Sudhakar). There is the angle of the poor versus rich rivalry within the colony.
While Abhi falls in love with rich girl Paru, who is contesting for Miss India, Abhijit loses his heart to his sister-in-law Paddu. On the other hand, Nagraj is in love with Lakshmi as well as Maya Aunty, who works as a beautician in the colony. The entire story revolves around their love lives and leads to the twist - when Srinu and his friends realise the bitter truth about their mother, Amala.
Amala Akkineni gives a splendid performance as the mother. Her emotional portrayal is the highlight of the movie. Shriya too looks exceptionally glamorous and fits well into her character as a Miss India contestant. Anjala Jhaveri exudes her regular oomph and fills the glamour slot. The youngsters are new in the industry, yet deliver a commendable performance. Shagun and Zara steal the limelight among the girls.
On the technical front, the camera work is good but editing very poor. There is a lot to delete in the first half of the movie. The entire first half is very slow and boring. Dialogues are good in parts and songs are not that melodious. Mickey J Meyer should be commended for his good background music. Except for the climax, most of the film is boring.
