New Delhi: OK OK, the dubbed version of director M Rajesh's Tamil film (Oru Kal Oru Kannadi), starring DMK supremo Karunanidhi's grandson Udhayanidhi Stalin and Hansika Motwani, was released in Andhra Pradesh today. The movie is a barrel of laughs but with a wafer-thin story. With two consecutive hits in a row, the director proves, once again, that he is the king of comedies.
The plot revolves around Sravan (Udhayanidhi Stalin) who falls in love with Meera (played by Hansika Motwani), the daughter of a top cop (played by Sayaji Shinde). The entire movie is about Sravan's attempts to woo Meera who, in turn, does not show any interest in him. The jovial narrative keeps the audience entertained throughout the movie.
Even though this is Stalin's debut as a hero, he has nevertheless managed to give a convincing performance with his comic timing. Despite being the producer, he has maintained a very low profile and allowed the director to highlight other artistes - Hansika, Santhanam and Saranya. Hansika fills the glamour slot perfectly and utilizes the opportunity to deliver a good performance with her perfect comic timing.
The cinematography and editing are average. However,in song sequences, the camerawork is excellent. Harris Jayaraj hasn't been able to work any wonders with the music which is just average. The dialogues in the Telugu version are not that perfect and they failed to evoke the comedy they did in Tamil, though the director has made efforts to balance the two versions.
The film is, at best, a a one-time watch. Visit the theatre only if you must spend your week-end with one film. Or else, wait for the DVD to come and watch it at home.
