MTV Movie Awards: Star Wars to Leonardo DiCaprio, Full List of Nominees

New Delhi: Hollywood's biggest awards, the Oscars, are over, but the party's not over yet. The nominees for this year's MTV Movie Awards have been announced and Star Wars fans have reason to rejoice with 11 nominations for the latest film in the series, The Force Awakens. Deadpool came next with eight nods.

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who finally won the Oscar this year for The Revenant, has been nominated again for Best Male Performance. His competition - Chris Pratt (Jurassic World), Matt Damon (The Martian), Michael B Jordan (Creed), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Will Smith (Concussion). Leonardo vs the Bear from The Revenant are also nominated for Best Fight.

Alicia Vikander, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Danish Girl, has been nominated in the Best Female Performance category for Ex Machina. She will contest for the trophy with Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect 2), Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Jennifer Lawrence (Joy) and Morena Baccarin (Deadpool).

There's an unexpected Indian connect with Nargis Fakhri up for Best Fight with her Spy co-star Melissa McCarthy.

The #OscarsSoWhite backlash will find no echo here, with nods for Will Smith, Michael B Jordan, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong'o, Samuel L Jackson, Kevin Hart, O'Shea Jackson Jr, Creed and Straight Outta Compton. There's also a pleasing bit of gender stereotype-smashing with Charlize Theron, Daisy Ridley and Jennifer Lawrence being nominated in the Best Hero category for their work in Mad Max: Fury Road, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2. They compete with Chris Evans from Avengers: Age of Ultron, Dwayne Johnson from San Andreas and Paul Rudd from Ant-Man.
