Mumbai: If Rajkumar Hirani would have had his way, Munna Bhai would never have been made into a film. At the event to launch the poster of Saala Khadoos, the PK director let us in on his little secret.

"It was a long time ago when Munna Bhai was a story that I had written for a television series. R Madhavan was a big television star then and I had approached him for the series. I am glad that he said no then," said Mr Hirani.

Munna Bhai MBBS released in 2003 while its sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai released in 2006. Mr Hirani is also planning another Munna Bhai film.

"I will first be working on the Sanjay Dutt biopic and will start the Munna Bhai film after that," he said. "We have actually written at least four scripts for Munna Bhai but have finally found the idea that could turn into a good film," he added.
