A museum displaying various aspectsof films - right from costumes, scripts, set designs,monographsand even film magazines will come up in Mumbai, as part of the100 year celebrations of the Indian cinema, an official saidtoday.
"The project will cost Rs 110-crore and it will beinaugurated in 2013 to commemorate 100 years of Indian cinemawhich began with Dadasaheb Phalke's epic film RajaHarischandra in 1913," Films Divisions director Kuldeep Sinhatold reporters on the sidelines of the International FilmFestival of India (IFFI) here.
Sinha said the webcast of the films made during the lastsix decades will soon be done by the division which willenable online purchases of the films and documentaries.
"The films division has produced over 8000 films duringthe last 60 years and about 5000 films will be available foronline purchase and downloads," he said.
Sinha said the division has signed a Memorandum ofUnderstanding (MoU) with National Films Division Corporation(NFDC) to market its documentaries.
"Through the MoU, NFDC has given all the rights to marketthe films all over the world on a revenue sharing basis," hesaid.
Sinha said an announcement regarding the waiver of oneper cent rental being charged at present from cinema owners toscreen their films at the cinema halls is round the corner.
