New Delhi:
Veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle, who was targeted by the MNS for being part of areality show involving Pakistani artistes, says music is beyond religion and boundaries.
Refusing to directly comment on the controversy about the show Sur Kshetra, Ashaji, who turns 79 tomorrow, said, "I am like an umpire on this show whose job is to take decisions on the field. I don't want to say anything more than that."
"Music doesn't differentiate between rich and poor, religions or boundaries. We applaud whenever we hear a good song," said Ashaji, who has recorded more than 12000 songs in her over six-decade career.
The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had on August 30 issued a diktat to Colors TV channel, warning it to not broadcast the show Sur Kshetra which would feature both Indian and Pakistani vocalists on September 8. It had also asked Asha not to judge the show.
However, the show was given a green signal yesterday after producers met Thackeray at his residence.
