Music maestro Rahman turns 46
New Delhi: Music maestro and double Academy and Grammy winner A R Rahman celebrates his 46th birthday today.

Labelled as the Mozart of Madras and the Beethoven of Bollywood, Rahman's career began in films with the phenomenal success of Mani Ratnam's Roja in1992.

Platinum discs in Tamil and Hindi films and international success with Slumdog Millionaire, has proved the versatility of the incomparable Rahman.

Rahman, who has written jingles for ads and composed several orchestrations for athletic events, TV and internet media publications, documentaries and short films, also composed the official song for the 19th Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi in 2010.

The musician once again put India in the spotlight by adding two songs to the album of international group SuperHeavy, which boasted of members like Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger, English singer-songwriter Joss Stone, English musician Dave Stewart and Jamaican reggae artist Damian Marley.

He is now working for the Hollywood movie Welcome To People, Directed by Alex Kurtzman, co-produced by Steven Spielberg. Reportedly he has finished composing music for the film.
