Mumbai:
After his cameo in Aashayein, Nagesh Kukunoor wants to resume acting.
Nagesh Kukunoor has done a cameo in his upcoming release Aashayein. The last film in which he had enacted a full-fledged role was Hyderabad Blues 2 (2004).
The director will again be seen facing the camera with John Abraham, but this time, he will play a bookie. Nagesh admits that he's been getting numerous acting offers and is seriously considering taking up acting again.
Nagesh describes his role in Aashayein as "a very random spur-of-the-moment thing," adding, "It took me just one day to shoot for the part. I have been getting this itch to sink my teeth into a substantial role and this cameo was a result of that want. For the last few years, I've been offered a couple of roles but none of them were exciting enough."
What roles has he been rejecting? "I recently got an offer to play the role of a husband, but it was too simple and linear. I need a challenge, something rewarding enough to tackle."
Presently in Chandigarh doing a recce for his next film, he adds, "My next as a director will be a small love story. We are looking at several locations around here, and it was also a great excuse to get out of Mumbai."
About the long-delayed release of Aashayein, Nagesh says, "It's difficult and agonising to wait for your film to release. There was a delay with my other film Bollywood Calling as well, but not to this extent. I think the only emotion I have before the release of my film is immense relief."
