Hollywood actress Natalie Portman reportedly wants to play an edgy Snow White in an upcoming film.
The Black Swan star is reportedly eyeing the lead role in Brothers Grimm: Snow White, producer Brett Ratner's version of the classic fairytale, Contactmusic reported.
No contract has yet been signed by Portman but Melisa Wallack has already started working on the script for the 3-D movie on behalf of Relativity Media.
Amelie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, is being lined up to direct the 29-year-old Oscar-nominated actress in the flick.
However Ratner has revealed that this film will be completely different from the Disney version with reports suggesting Natalie's Snow White will be not be a simple good girl.
"This is not your grandfather's Snow White. Melisa went back to the 500 year old folk tale and put in some of the things that were missing from Walt Disney's film. His dwarves were miners, and here they are robbers. There is also a dragon that was in the original folk tale. Walt made one of the great movies of all time, but ours is edgy and there is more comedy. The original, made for its time, was soft compared to what we're going to do," said Ratner.
