New Delhi:
Film and television actor Navin Nischol died of a heart attack at his residence in suburban Mumbai today.
He made his debut with the 1970 box-office hit film Sawan Bhadon, where he starred opposite Rekha. The first gold medalist from the Film and Television Institute of India to make it big, he starred in several superhits, such as Buddha Mil Gaya, The Burning Train, Khosla Ka Ghosla!, etc.
He also managed to carve a successful television career for himself by acting in serials such as Dekh Bhai Dekh.
In the last few years, things did not go too well for Navin Nischol. In 2006, he had been charged with abetting his wife Geetanjali's suicide. However two years later, in 2008, the Mumbai sessions court acquitted him of the same.
May he rest in peace.
