Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen opposite Bipasha Basu in horror film Aatma.
Mumbai:
Director Suparn Verma is very impressed with Nawazuddin Siddiqui's performance in his film Aatma and asserts that the actor's presence will be felt in each and every scene of the horror thriller.
"I wanted someone who is a good actor first and secondly, he should not have the baggage of a set image. In Nawazuddin Siddiqui , I found more than these two qualities. He is such an actor that even if he is not in the frame, he is omnipresent," Suparn Verma said here Wednesday in an interview.
"In Aatma, from the first frame to the last frame, whether Nawazuddin Siddiqui is there or not, it doesn't matter -- you will feel him around yourself 24 hours," he added.
Nawazuddin has teamed up with Bipasha Basu, who plays his wife in Aatma, which hits theatres on March 22.
Nowadays, filmmakers are experimenting by making horror drams in 3D format. Director Vikram Bhatt made horror-thrillers like Haunted, Raaz 3, and Dangerous Ishq in 3D. Besides these, Ram Gopal Varma's Bhoot Returnswas also in 3D.
But Suparn Verma, who earlier directed Ek Khiladi Ek Haseenaand Acid Factory, feels the format disconnects the audience from the film.
"My producer Kumar Mangat Pathak offered to shoot the film in 3D, but I didn't because it's a very emotional story. So when you wear 3D glasses, there is some disconnect where you know that you are watching a film... You can't get into the film," he explained
"But I wanted people to identify and relate with the characters. And 3D glasses would have been a barrier. That's why I didn't shoot the film in 3D," he added.
