Actress Neha Dhupia has been relentlessly trolled since criticising 'good governance' in a tweet about rain-lashed Mumbai that she posted on Tuesday:
The tweet, which now has over 2,700 shares and has been favourited some 2000 times, obliquely refers to the #SelfieWithDaughter and Yoga Day campaigns that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has publicly endorsed.
The responses to the 34-year-old actress' comment has been mostly vicious. Several tweets, a sample of which we reproduce below, have accused Neha of publicity-seeking, 'dumbness' and worse. There were also several jokes about her career.
Those criticising the hate directed at the actress, like this one below, were mostly out-shouted:
Weeks ago, actress Shruti Seth and activist Kavita Krishnan were also savaged on Twitter for challenging the #SelfieWithDaughter hashtag. Neha, star of films like Julie and Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, has not yet responded to any of those attacking her.
