Netizens mourn Pran's death
Pran died in Mumbai on July 12 after a long illness
Kolkata: A day after legendary actor Pran passed away, netizens condoled his death with musical tributes, dialogues and photo montages of Bollywood's very own villain.

With multilingual posts that carry Pran's popular dialogues and names of the dreaded villains he so fluidly essayed on screen, loyalists have mourned the veteran actor's death through collages and music videos of his popular songs.

"Pran heen Bollywood (Bollywood is without life)" is the common Bengali phrase doing the rounds on Facebook. The dialogue is set against the backdrop of a photograph from his cult film Zanjeer, where Pran had brought to life the memorable character of Sher Khan, a pathan.

The same phrase has been used by Marathi and Gujarati fans marking Pran's final curtain call.

Hailed as the "Gentleman's villain", references to Pran's Sher Khan dominate cyber space.

His landmark stance from Don (I978) as the cigarette-smoking Jasjeet in search of his two missing children, has been put up across the social networking site as legions of cinema-goers waxed eloquent about the legend through Hindi poems and Urdu shayaris.

Known for his stylised dialogue delivery, the iconic dialogues from Zanjeer, Sher Khan ki shaadi nahi hui to kya hua, baaratein to kai dekhi hai and Lagta hei iss sheher main naye aye ho Barkhudar... varna Sher khan ko kaun nehin jaanta, are a part of everybody's comments.

Similarly, videos of the song Hum bolega toh bologe from the 1974 film Kasauti and the popular Yaari hai imaan from Zanjeer have been garnering hundreds of 'likes'.

Other favourite posts include the popular song Kasme vaade pyaar wafaa from Upkar (1967).
