London:
After years of speculation, pop star Jonathan Knight of the Eighties boyband New Kids OnThe Block, has come out as gay.
With his band back together after 14 years, the39-year-old has come forward to confirm rumours that he isgay, reported Daily Mail online.
"I have lived my life very openly and have neverhidden the fact that I am gay," he wrote on a message board.
"Apparently the pre-requisite to being a gay publicfigure is to appear on the cover of a magazine with thecaption 'I am gay'. I apologise for not doing so if this iswhat was expected! My belief is that you live your life byexample, and not by a caption on a magazine," wrote Knight.
His comments came in response to an interview in whichformer pop star Tiffany, who dated Knight at the height oftheir fame, talked about his sexual preferences.
"Jonathan Knight, the quiet one, the shy one. Hebecame gay later," she had said.
When the interviewer asked if she thought she had"turned" him gay, Tiffany replied, "I had issues with that, Iwas thinking maybe I did."
On realising that Knight had not talked publicly abouthis sexual preferences she apologised profusely on her Twitterpage.
But Knight was quick to reassure her not to worry, adding that her comments had made him laugh.
"Tiff, please don't lose any sleep over it. I know youweren't being mean and I found it to be funny," he tweetedback to her.
